General - Launch of new ACE/CSCS Affiliation Scheme

IIn a new agreement between the ECITB and CSCS, a joint Assurance in Competence in Engineering Construction (ACE) and CSCS card will be available to individuals who meet the competence and health and safety awareness requirements relevant to NVQ Level 3.
For a number of years now, skilled and competent craftsmen from the engineering construction industry have had difficulty in working on civil construction sites without being in possession of a CSCS card. This new affiliation will solve this problem and will allow personnel access to sites they would otherwise not be allowed to enter.
Nigel Spencer, Director – Development & Quality, ECITB said, “The ECITB, on behalf of the industry, has been seeking to find a solution to the problem of individuals having to possess two cards for some time now. The costs and time involved in obtaining the two cards was becoming prohibitive. We are extremely pleased that we have been able to reach an affiliation agreement that suits all parties. This will go some considerable way towards reducing costs and wasted time.”
Gordon Jenkins, CSCS Scheme Manager commented, “ We are delighted that the ECITB’s card scheme is affiliated with CSCS so that those working in engineering construction need only carry one card from now on.”
Personnel working in the engineering construction sector who have met the competence and health and safety awareness requirements of the CSCS card appropriate to their job will be able to upgrade their ACE Cards so that is carries the CSCS logo.
